I visited the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts with my friend Debbie on Sunday. The Picasso Exhibit is here in Richmond until May 15th. Second of only three stops in the United States which included paintings, drawing, sculptures and etches by the artist.
Here are some of my favorites.
Portrait of Olga in an Armchair
Paul as Harlequin
The Frugal Meal
The Bathers
Portrait of Dora Maar
Celestina (The Woman with One-Eye)
Pablo Picasso...what a character!

I am so jealous! What an awesome exhibit to see.
OK, I'm turnin' all sorts of shades of jealously green here!!! I'm thrilled you got to see this fabulous collection, what a wonderful experience! Woohoo!!!
God bless and have a splendid day!!! :o)
Oh, I would love to see his work in person.
So? was he there??? ;)
I love the first pic. Really beautiful.
I think he did a LOT of drugs!
He was amazing...so glad you all got to go!
I love Picasso, especially his really abstract stuff. My favorite is called Girl in the Mirror, I saw it in NY at MOMA and fell in love. So cool you got to see this exhibit!
I love a good museum!
What a rare occasion. I used to love going to the Getty Museum in Malibu. They will never have Picasso in my neck of TX

Incredible! Lucky you to get to see such an exhibit! There is a planned Warhol exhibit coming to Edmonton - not the same as Picasso, I know - and it is to be the only Canadian stop. I wonder why they do that. I am quite certain many people would love to see these great works.
There's a video of an interview with Picasso that Toonman has seen and raved about ... I am amazed they let you take pix at the exhibit, here in NewYawk the museum guards get very upset if they see a camera
I love art! ( I'm a very frustrated artist--frustrated because I can't do it!);)
I remember Mama and I going to a gallery just on other side of the James River bridge (can't remember the name) some years back. It wasn't a large showing, but it was a few paintings of Andrew Wyeth, and maybe his dad's and son, Jamie's, too. I literally could have stayed for days. Wish it had been a bigger showing, but I loved what I COULD see--oh, the talent! Mama didn't care too much about art (unless I had painted it. She was my champion in everything I attempted to do.)
I'd seriously love to have one of his paintings. I loved the way he used egg tempera for painting.
I used to do water colors and sketches, and I wish I could get back into that. My son, my sweet son, bought me a painting of a beautiful sunset one day .(I couldn't figure out why he kept asking me which one I liked when we were in the mall. Then, we brought it home and he took a painting of mine of little boy and his beagle off my wall, replaced it with the one he had bought, and took the one I painted home to his and his wife's new home. It was so sweet--he wanted the one I had done! It had been hanging over the piano since he was a little boy, and he wanted it. It made me so happy.
You're going to have so many more proud memories of your little guy.
what a character indeed!
I love his work
glad you enjoyed the exhibit
