Locks of Love

After my Friday morning workout on Doomsday, the day the world ends, December 21, 2012, I headed home to pick up Little T who is now on Christmas Winter Break. We decided to make it a mother and son day and what a day it was!

We started off doing some banking errands and then headed to Sheltering Arms Rehab Center to visit an elderly friend. We surprised her with a small Christmas tree that we decorated for her while we visited. She also loved the magazines we brought her.

Then we headed for Wally-World Wal-Mart which was total madness! Thank goodness we only needed one item! We were in and out in minutes which is almost unheard of! Another quick stop at Game Stop for some gift certificates. Lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings. It was yummy! More browsing at Marshall's to kill some time until we headed for the barbershop hair stylist. Little T has been talking about getting his hair chopped off cut for some time now. He wanted to donate it to Locks of Love. He was going to wait until Summer but then decided Christmas was the time to do it! I will leave you with the following pictures. They say it all. What a selfless gift to give someone in need. Gosh I love this kid!

The Good Flea

My blogger friend Flea over at The Good Flea is quite an artist.

When I saw on facecrack facebook she was making leather bracelets,  I had to have one for a special someone that
  takes up space resides here at the Little House.

It was minutes not long after placing my order,
that my package arrived in the mail!

It was a perfect fit, the perfect color and the perfect gift for the someone special who is the world's sloppiest calls me Mama!

Tuesday's Tree

Of all the 3 million trees here at the Little House,
this one is my favorite.
We planted this white Crape Myrtle the year after we moved here. That was almost 100 17 years ago.
It was a gift from my Cdub.
It usually has 60 million white blossoms that look like
snow falling when the wind blows. 

I am not certain why it didn't have 60 million as many this year, maybe we're in for one hell of  a white Christmas instead.
But nonetheless, it is very dear to my heart!

Sometimes in life shit stuff happens.
 It's not always good.
 And it may be out of your control. 

It can make you may feel sick like you are sinking. 

But when that happens...
throw out your anchor rope and hang on!

Early Morning Calls of the Wild

We have wolf pups dogs that prowl live here at the Little House. Balto (on the right) and Sierra (on the left)  are quiet the early morning noise makers serenaders as well as excellent teachers!

They have taught the new addition Nikita to make noise serenade as well. She's a Siberian husky wolf dog in the making.

 Alot of mornings we wake up to these sounds.

A Sign of The Times

Hmmm...so which is it?

Luffa, Loofah, or Lufah ...who knew?

 Last year my dear friend Tere introduced me (and our Children's Church) to   growing your own Luffa ( I'll be using this spelling). She gave  me some seeds and some simple growing directions and off I went. My first year only yielded about 6 sponges. But I was happy! Who knew the Luffa was part of the cucumber family and can be eaten? I did Not me. And I got more seeds!

This year I planted another crop. I was more prepared and I have more sponges coming in the fall! I love the bright yellow blooms and so do the bees! The vines are beautiful.They are fun to watch grow. The are great in the bath or for scrubbing dishes. The last forever...almost! They make great gifts too. Who knew the Luffa  grew in your garden? I did Not me...I thought they came from the ocean. DUH! I really need to get out from under this rock!
