Our tomatoes are doing quiet well this year.
We are in a dry spell and have had to do some watering.
But it is so worth it. Our tomatoes are beginning to ripen
and it will soon be 'mater sandwich time!
Nothing says summertime like a good tomato sandwich!
I'm taking orders for tomato sandwiches.
I like mine with mayo, cheese and a little
salt on white bread.
How do you like yours?

I would like mine just like that. And served to me on CBW's deck. Thank you;)
Can you believe I FORGOT to plany matters!!!!! Waaaa!
I'll have mayo/matter/salt&pepper please.
Gotta have bacon! Boy those are huge!!!!!!
Some of my fondest memories are of my grandfather and I sitting at the kitchen table eating his homegrown tomatoes, sliced up on a plate with salt and pepper.
Enjoy! Sounds delish!
They look great...love that you are hugging your tomato plants. They enjoy the LOVE.
I have been having issues with my plants...see my post on MOnday.
I confess, I don't eat them alone on a sammy....but I love them on everything else!!!
I'll be there in FIVE minutes!!! I'll bring the marble rye...
I like my tomatoes on sourdough with bacon!
What wonderful plants. Due to excessive vacations (two trips in May), my garden didn't get planted this year, well except for two pathetic rows of snap peas. Though I must admit that while I live in Nj, I don't eat tomatoes. It's a texture thing.
I like mine cut in chunks and sprinkled with a little sea salt and pepper .. with a hunk of some thick crusted bread and a glass of red wine on the side .. ahhhh ...
I like mine very ripe, very thinly sliced, with fresh basil and fresh mozzarella, a drizzle of olive oil and some coarse salt and pepper. Please.
I also have tried a great technique you might like to try if you have more than you know what to do with - you cut 'em in half, drizzle OO and a little salt, cut side up on a baking sheet, at 200 degrees for 12 hours. They turn into something like sun dried tomatoes - the flavor concentrates and they are so yummy.
I am getting some, they are turning nicely, and have a wonderful flavor but they are small. No bigger than the size of your fist!
I am so jealous! Birds are just stripping my tomato plants!
Fresh tomatoes are my most favorite things : ) I LOVE them! With some ranch dressing on top. HEAVEN! : )
LOVE the picture of you hugging yours. I think that is why they are doing so well : ) With love from you everything grows!
Oh yes, great looking tomatoes! At our house the G-man has tall plants also, but down here in Texas we are about to finish up with the good tomatoes. It's getting too hot & the stalks have begun to fall over, but oh how good they were. Maybe we should consider a fall crop.
...with lemon pepper!
Oh, I'll have to try my tomato sandwiches with cheese. I use wheat bread as a cover.
I cannot even look at tomatoes. Gah!
But I'm happy for you! Just keep them on that side of the continent!
Grilled cheese and tomato are one of my all-time faves.
Thanks for visiting, Noe Noe. I am still trying to catch up. I seem to be working more since I retired. The Chamber and the city keeps me busy covering all the events. I thought when I retired from the newspaper I would have more time to shoot at my leisure. But I do enjoy my work.
Maters - I love mine with spicy hot mustard, lettuce, onion, and crisp veggie bacon.
We, too, have been in a hot spell. You can bite into the air when you walk out of the house. Today is a little cooler, but more hot weather is on the way.
I love Maters. I luv em, I luv em!
Sliced with a little salt and pepper.
We are through our first growing season of tomatoes. Will be putting in a new crop at the end of August. I miss being able to walk out in the garden for my veggies.
Wow! Can't wait to see you this week!
